Movement Therapy & Embodiment Work
"Movement is giving your body a voice" - Anonymous Author
As a Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist, I incorporate movement and embodiment as part of the therapeutic process. As humans, we use our body and its experiences to process and understand our own emotions. DMT utilizes movement and the body to better understand these processes. As every individual is different, this work will look different for everyone. No prior movement or dance experience is necessary or required.

How Do I Know if I Need Therapy?
Everyone experiences stressful times in their lives. Signs you could benefit from psychotherapy include if you have been feeling generally anxious or overwhelmed, having difficulty identifying and regulating emotions, struggling at work or school, experiencing trauma, and/or having trouble building and maintaining relationships. Therapy can be a place of support for when you are currently facing a hard time, when you are in transition, when you want to build insight, and/or when you want to better yourself and your relationships.

Is Dance/Movement Therapy Somatic Therapy?
Yes! Somatic Therapy describes body-centered therapy approaches that look at and strengthen the mind-body connection.

Why would someone want to incorporate Dance/Movement Therapy?
Stress, anxiety, and trauma live within our body and the nervous system. The patterns in our mind are rooted in the body. DMT is an opportunity to listen to your body to better process emotions and experiences.
